A Walk around Akatsuka in Itabashi Ward / 板橋区赤塚の散歩

After featuring the Tokyo Daibutsu, we had a long walk back to the station so we decided to wander around as it was still early and the weather was good.  Just up the road from Jorenji Temple was the Akatsuka Botanical Garden.

浄蓮寺にある東京大仏を参りしたあとは赤塚周辺でちょっと散歩しました。駅までちょっと距離があるし、天気も良かったし、時間もまだあったので、浄蓮寺のすぐ近くに赤塚植物園に行ってきました。

Shishiotoshi.  I don't think there is an English translation for this word.  What it is and what you are looking at is a bamboo tube when fills with water which clacks against a stone when emptied. It's very soothing.

鹿威し。英語で訳すことは出来ないですね。日本人なら誰でも知ってると思いますが、海外の人だったら珍しいと思われるかもしりませんね。これこそ和の世界だ。

And then we continued our walk back to the station and back home.

そして本日の赤塚探索が終了しました。駅に戻って、うちに帰りました。
