Country Farm Tokyo German Village /

Our last point of interest before heading back to Tokyo was the Country Farm Tokyo German Village.  A German village in Tokyo?  Well, Chiba!  I don't know what was so German about the place except for the buildings and the traffic cones with the colors of the German flag.

Aren't these little houses just the cutest things ever?

Had to ride all the funky bikes at the amusement area of the German Village.

Duck bike /

Dolphin bike was the most uncomfortable /

Aunt Purara /

Look, swan boats - yep, we partook in this activity as well.

And so ended our overnight trip to Minami Boso.

Japanese Microbeer Tour - Chiba Prefecture /

Bohsyu Hana Beer /

Hey, you know I can't resist trying different kinds of craft beer when I find them.  Before heading to the foot bath we were looking around a souvenir shop and I found the Bohsyu Hana Beer and a weizen at that!  Of course I had to have one (and since I'm not driving it's okay).

Minami Boso Trip Continues /

Leaving Nihon-ji, heading back to Tokyo, but first, a short stop to check out a public foot bath!

The foot bath! /

After warming our feet, it was back on the road.  Next stop, checking out the "Golden Well".

Um, the well doesn't look that golden to me.  But then I discovered that it only becomes golden during the months of March through May.

This is what it looks like that during that time (picture borrowed off the internet, obviously from a television show).

And off to another adventure...

Nihon-ji - Third Time is a Charm (Part 3) /

Do you know what the problem is when you walk to the top of the mountain?  It means you have to walk all the way back down!  But as we had to pass through the rakan Arhat area again, it is worthwhile to descend at a leisurely pace.

He was by his little self (perhaps meditating in private) /

Shoutokutaishi /

Yuimakutsu (why he has the head of Shokupan-man remains a mystery) /

Bekiradou /

Nippai-do / 日牌堂

We took a short rest here.  It's hard rock climbing down a mountain.

Houkyouinto /

Can you imagine trying to take a picture of every single rakan?  As I said previously, there are over 1500 at Nihon-ji.

More beheaded rakans! /

Mikako holding up the tree across the path with one hand!

Asekaki-fudou /

Hyakutai-Kannon /

Here we are at the Daibutsu area again.  I wanted to take the full picture of the Onegai Jizo.

Had to come back to the Buddha and thank him for stopping the rain and letting us reach our goal of climbing to the top of the Jigoku Nozoki.

And so ends our trip to Nihon-ji (but that doesn't mean are Chiba trip is over).  To be continued...
