Maui Vacation (Day 3) Da Kitchen / マウイ島旅行 （三日目） ダ・キッチン

Dinner in Lahaina at [Da Kitchen].

ラハイナで夕食、店は「ダ・キッチン」

Apparently a chain restaurant in Hawaii.  My friend ordered a standard teriyaki steak.  Mikako and I had to try the Hawaiian style ramen called saimin while my sister shared a chicken katsu sandwich with Tyrone.

ハワイのチェン店らし。友達は定番の照焼きステーキを注文。僕と美香子はハワイにしか味わえないハワイ風ラーメンのサイミンを頼んだ。そして妹は旦那と二人でチキンカツサンドを。

Is this really a portion for just one person?  これ本当に一人分の量？

Hawaiian saimin.  To tell you the truth, its not all that delicious.  It's like a regular bowl of ramen with a soy sauce based soup with the added touch of sesame oil.  There are better tasting instant noodles in Japan.

ハワイのサイミン。正直と言えば、そんなに美味しくない。 味は醤油ラーメンに胡麻油を足しただけの感じ。日本だったらこれより多数のカップラーメンのほうが美味しいわ。

The chicken katsu sandwich is also quite large by Japanese standards.  It's more like a Double Chicken Cutlet Burger.  My sister was right in splitting it in two (even then, it's still one large sandwich)

チキンカツサンドは日本のイメージとは違う。見た目もでっかい、まるでダブルチキンバーガーと言えば良いと思う。妹は旦那と半分個にしたのは正解だ。それでもボリュームたっぷり！

And yes, I had a bite.  Quite delicious.
