Ali Baba / アリババ

Although the Indian restaurant Panjabi opened in our neighborhood before Ali Baba, I was looking forward to the opening of Ali Baba. I knew this restaurant and its owner from the time it was located in Shin Okubo's Hyakunincho Yatai Mura. A favorite hangout of mine quite a few years back. The new location was going to open on Setagaya Dori which is just a ten minute walk from our apartment.

うちの近所に最初に開店したインドレストランはパンジャビですが、アリババという店が最近オープンした。僕はアリババとその店とその店のオーナーは結構前から知ってた。昔新大久保の百人町屋台村にあった一軒です。そこはよく食べに行ったところです。まだ百人町にあるかどうかが分かりませえんが、新しい場所がうちから十分で歩ける距離です。

It seems Ali Baba has expanded its menu to include Thai cuisine as well. In fact the Japanese written at the top of the sign translates to "Spicy and Healthy Indian and Thai Cuisine". We went for lunch. I ordered the curry of the day which was chicken spinach while Mikako order the Thai lunch of Gaopao, chicken rice with basil. Lunch is served with a salad and a mango lassi (yogurt drink). My curry also comes with a large piece of nan and some rice.

アリババがタイ料理も追加して、楽しめる料理が倍に増えた。ランチを食べに行ったんで、僕が日替わりのカレーを注文し、美香子がタイ料理のガオパオ（バシル炒めのチャーハンみたいなもの）を頼んだ。今日の日替わりのカレーはほうれん草とチキン。ランチはサラダとマンゴラッシ付。カレーにナンとライスが付いてます。
