De Dutch - Victoria, B.C. / デ・ダッチ ー カナダ、ビクトリア市

Our boat to take us back to Seattle was scheduled to leave at 11:30am. Which means we can enjoy breakfast here in Victoria. There was a nice little restuarant called [De Dutch] located in our hotel. My sister and I had the same thought. Whenever we go on vacation, we like to order Eggs Benedict for breakfast. I don't know why. It just is.

シアトルに戻る船は１１：３０AM出港。ってことで、ビクトリアで朝食。ホテルの中にあったレストラン「デ・ダッチ」に決定。僕と僕の妹はなぜか旅に出ると、朝食はいつもエッグズ・ベネディクットを食べる。何でなんだろ？

I never gave much thought to there being variations of Eggs Benedict - I simply assumed that we would be served eggs with ham on an English muffin and topped with Hollandaise sauce - the standard Eggs Benedict. This restaurant had six different variations. I ordered the Eggs Benedutch, which includes slices of imported Edam cheese. My sister opted for the B.C. Bene which is served with thinly sliced British Columbia salmon.

いろんなエグッズ・ベネディクットのバリエーションがあったのは知りませんでした。僕はスタンダードのやつでけがあると思った。それはエングリッシュマッフィンの上にハムと半熟たまごが乗せられて、トッピングはホランデーズソース。でもこの店はなんと六種類のエグッズベネディクットがある。僕が注文したのは「エッグズベネダッチ」。エダムチーズが入って濃厚。妹はB.C.ベネを。ハムじゃなくて、ブリティシュコロンビアサーモンが入ってる！

Mikako's mother ordered the French Toast, or rather the Dutch Toast, which is sprinkled with cinnamon and Icing Sugar and served with steaming hot Cinnamony Apples.

美香子のお母さんが注文したのはフレンチ・トースト、じゃなくて、ダッチトーストでした。トーストの上にシナモンと砂糖がトッピングされてる。ホットシナモンアップルも一緒。

But this restaurant's specialty is something called a pannekoek (pan-ne-kook). This is similar to the American pancake but is much larger and thicker than a crepe. Mikako ordered the maple banana walnut pannekoek - and I must say, that was a hit! She also ordered a side of bacon which we shared.

このレストランの名物はパンネクーク、アメリカのホットケーキみたいなものでもホットケーキよりでっかい、クレープに近い。種類もいろいろ。美香子が注文したのはメープル・バナナ・クルミパンネクーク。サイドにべーコンも頼んだ。

After our hearty breakfast, we checked out of the hotel and walked to the docks to where our boat was waiting.

朝食で満腹になったあと、ホテルをチェックアウトして、船乗り場まで歩いて行った。
