My wife and I saw a short news piece on this very small shrine that's on Tsukudajima. It's called the Tsukuda Tendai Jizo-son. To get there, you must enter a very narrow alley made between two buildings. Or course we had to go check it out.
僕と妻がテレビを観たらある番組に小さな神社が紹介された。名前は佃天台地蔵尊。佃島にある。正式な場所が二つのビルの間にある。怪しい通路を入ってたどり着く。もちろん見に行くしかない。

There's a large tree inside the jiso-son.
地蔵尊の中に大きな木が入ってる。
佃住吉講。此の場所は江戸時代後期寛政拾年（１７９８）徳川幕府より建立を許されたなんとかの柱で立入禁止になってます。

We also came across this very small shrine called the Irifune Inari Shrine.

The cat was too cute to ignore.

This was the former site of the Tokyo-Shijo station which ran around the Tsujiki Fish Market. This monument commorates the closing of the station on January 31, 1987 or Showa 62.

This is the restored Ishikawajima Lighthouse which you will find in Tsukuda Park.

This sign says this area was the birthplace of the first Western-style ship building yard. The picture is of the first Japanese-built steam warship, the Chiyodagata.
ここが日本初の民業洋式造船所の発祥地。映ってる船は初の蒸気軍艦「千代田形」。

この碑は越中島公園の入り口の設置されてる。
This ship is listed as an Important Cultural Asset. The name of the ship is the Meiji Maru. It was built in Govan (now part of Glasgow) in Scotland by Robert Napier and Sons. It was constucted for the Japanese government as a lighthouse tender.
この船は日本の重要文化材に指定されてます。船の名前は「明治丸」。灯台巡視船として日本政府がイギリスに発注した船です。
We continued walking and went from Etchujima Park and the Meiji Maru to Naritasan in Monzen Nakacho. But first we had to have lunch. I forget the name of the shop we went to but it was a counter-only place and seemed to be a hangout for salarymen after hours. We probably won't be going back here any time soon.
歩き続いて門前仲町にある成田山まで行った。でもその前にランチを食べないと。どこに食べたか忘れてましたが、サラリーマンが集まる様なところでした。ランチは私たち二人だけでなんだか心地よくない。とりあえずざるそばと天ぷらを食べた。味も美味しいがどうかも忘れた。ただ言えるのはここは二度と来ないでしょう。

But I was also curious about this temple. I discovered it to be called Eitaiji Temple.
自分はこのお寺にも気になって、ちょっと覗いてみた。永代寺です。
今日も良い天気だったし、ちょっと暑いからかき氷を食べた。妻はあずきを注文して自分は定番の苺。
The official name of Naritasan is Naritasan Fukagawa Fudodo. The building ahead is the former hondo (main shrine) while the interesting looking rectangular black building is the new hondo.
成田山の正式名は成田山東京別院深川不動堂。真正面にある建物は旧本堂。左側の黒いビルは現在の本堂。

We walked from Naritasan to the other large shrine located in Monzen Nakacho. We went to Tomioka Hachiman Shrine.
成田山を参拝したあと門前仲町にあるもう一つの大きな神社に行きました。それが富岡八幡宮。
Statue of Tadataka Ino at Tomioka Hachiman Shrine. Ino was a surveyor and cartographer and is known for completing the first map of Japan using modern surveying techniques.
伊能忠敬の銅像。伊能忠敬は江戸時代の天文学者と地理学者。１７年をかけて日本全国を測量して大日本沿海輿地全図を完成した人物です。
There's a large building on the shrine grounds that houses two large portable shrines (I know, that's an oxymoron if I ever heard one). This is the mikoshi housed on the left. It is the Ichinomiya Mikoshi.
境内に一つの建物の中に二つの大きな神輿が展示されてる。上記にある神輿は建物の左側に展示され、「一の宮神輿」という。
On the right is the Ninoimiya Mikoshi.
隣にあるのは「二の宮神輿」です。

This is a monument showing that this area was known for being a lumberyard.
この記念碑はこの場所が江戸時代で木場として使われてた。大木造りの町でした。

Once you get to the end of the gates, you will find yourself in front of the Eishogosha Inari Shrine.

And so ended our adventure for today. We did a lot of walking in the sunshine and my neck was feeling pretty hot by the time we got home. Still, it was quite a fun day.
そして今日の冒険の幕が閉じた。帰ったら結構首の回りが暑く感じたが、楽しい一日だったのであんまり気にしてなかった。
Well, I guess it was just hot, but it was sunburnt!
