Yesterday at 8:45am, there was large earthquake in Northern Tokyo. I would like everyone to know my wife's family are fine and didn't suffer any losses.
My friend's family who lives in Iwate Prefecture suffered the loss of three rice bowls.
Unfortunatley, at this present time, the quake has taken the lives of three people and more than a dozen people are still missing.
The quake may not have been as big as the one in Sichuan Province in China, but it's still a scary thing. One mustn't take Mother Nature for granted.
Mikako and I are fine as well. Although Tokyo felt a quake in the morning, the city suffered no damage or losses. Mikako was walking on her way to work and wasn't even aware that there was an earthquake. I was on the 7th floor of a building so you bet I felt it alright.
On a seperate note:
More update on the random stabbing spree. It's now known that the 25yr old suspect had been planning on doing this for weeks in advance. Not only did he plan it, he wrote about it every step of the way on a cell phone net site. From the time he rented a 2 ton truck, until he reached Akihabara. The content would make you sick to your stomach.

TOKYO NEWS FLASH
As I have alread sent e-mail to my friends and family, I just wanted to reiterate what happened in Akihabara today.
Akihabara is a major tourist spot with its Electric Town, maid cafes, and anime shops and the area is closed to traffic on Sundays with its Pedestrian Heaven. Mikako and I have enjoyed walking around Akihabara on Sundays so this worthless and unnecessary crime makes me angry beyond reason. I shall refrain from writing what I really want to say and will just give you the facts.
Today at approximately 12:30pm, a 25yr old male from Shizuoka drove his truck at high speed into Akihabara's Pedestrian Heaven, sending three people sprawling. He then left his truck with a 13cm survival knive and went on a stabbing spree.
Seven people have died and more than a dozen people were injured.
Although he was apprehended, when later questioned by the police, he was said to have become irritated with life and went to Akihabara specifically to kill people. Anybody would do.
As I am still upset over the random and senseless killing of innocent people, I cannot share a light-hearted post in my current state of mind.
