As I mentioned in my last post, I had no desire to see Shinedown and decided to use that time to walk around and get some fresh air before Queensryche takes the stage. I was looking forward to hearing their new vocalist, Todd La Torre, who was the singer for Crimson Glory.
前に言ってましたが、シャインダウンに興味はなかった為、この時間はちょっと外で空気を吸って、５時からクイーンズライクのライブを見ることにした。元クリムソン・グロリーのトッド・ラ・トゥーレを見るのが楽しみだった。

The set featured songs from almost all their albums and Todd did a great job filling Geoff Tate's shoes. I think the new lineup of Queensryche without Geoff Tate will be just fine.
セットは結構いろんなアルバムから選択し、トッドは凄い良かった。今後のクイーンザライクはジェフ・テイト無しでも大丈夫だ。

The next group that would be hitting the stage would be Children of Bodom from Finland. As I had seen them the previous year, I decided to go in search of dinner before catching the beginning of Blind Guardian's set and then going back to the Ultimate Stage to see Dokken with their original line up featuring Don Dokken and George Lynch on the same stage, along with Jeff Pilson and Mick Brown.
次ステージで演奏するのはフィンランドのバンドのチルドレン・オブ・ボドム。去年も観たので、この時間に夕飯探し。ドイツ出身のブラインド・ガーディアンのオペニングくらいが見たいので、同じ時間帯でアルティメットステージに立つのはドッケンのオリジナルメンバー。ドン・ドッケンとジョージ・リンチが同じステージに立つのは見逃さない。ベスはジェフ・ピルソンとドラマーのミック・ブラウンも参加。凄い楽しみだ。

This was dinner. Cheap but filling. And now to catch a little bit of Blind Guardian's set as they will playing songs entirely from their "Imaginations from the Other Side" album. I love that album. Great stuff.

And what a lot of people have been waiting for. To see Don Dokken on stage with George Lynch. Expectations were high. A dream come true for many Dokken fans!
そしてドッケンファンが念願のオリジナルメンバーのライブ。何年ぶりドン・ドッケンとジョージ・リンチが同じステージに立つのか。ファンが望んだ夢の様のライブ。期待は高まってた。
Oh my God! What the f&#k was that? If it hadn't been for George Lynch's guitar playing, there could have been a riot during this set. Don Dokken couldn't sing worth a darn. It was the most atrocious sounding Dokken I've ever heard. Not only was he bad and out of tune, he couldn't sing worth a darn. Even the classic were ruined for me! Oh my gosh, if I knew Don Dokken was going to sing this poorly, I would have stayed and watched Blind Guardian's entire set. You can bet there were a lot of disappointed fans tonight. Thank goodness we still have the Scorpions to take the stage before we all head back home and then come back for another full day of headbanging!
なんじゃこりゃー？？ひどすぎ。ドン・ドッケンがまったく歌えない。ジョージ・リンチのギターのおかげ、ライアットにまならなかったが。自分だけじゃない。周りのファンたちも、うん、嘘でしょうとザワザワ耳に入ってくる。ドン・ドッケンがこんなに下手ならオリジナルメンバーでツアーするすじあいがない！金目当てにしあ思えない。本当に残念。これをしったら、ブライン・ガーディアンのフルセットを見たわ！絶対がっがりしたファンは大勢居たな。ま、良かったことに次はヘッドライナーのスコーピオンズの出番だ！

SCORPIONS
Klaus Meine hitting the stage and belting out "Going Out with a Bang" was a refresher from the torture we had just been through. There was no problem with Klaus' singing voice.
クラウス・マイネがステージに現れ、曲”ゴイング・アウト・ウィス・ア・バング”で気分が取り戻された。やっぱりクラウスは凄い。まだ歌えるね。良かった、良かった。
I almost couldn't believe I was seeing the Scorpions in concert again. The first time I saw them play live, I was still in high school. It was way back in 1980 and they were the opening act for a Ted Nugent show. Back then, I liked Ted Nugent as well but I went to that concert mostly to see the Scorpions who finally released their albums in the States. And the band had such great energy. I was really excited with they did a medley of early Scropions songs.
まだ信じられない。またスコーピオンズのライブが見るなんて。僕が最初にスコーピオンズのコンサート行ったのは自分がまだ高校生でした。時は１９８０年。スコーピオンズがやっと自分たちのレコードがアメリカで発売になり、アメリカツアーにも成功。当時はテッド・ニュージェントの前座でしたが、最高に良いライブだった。初期の曲のメドレーをやった時は涙が出そうだった。これこそライブの楽しさ！
And I met up with my friend who absolutely changed my life in Japan! This is the person who first invited me to the rock bar Dokken. We were both working for Tower Records at the time and she knew I liked hard rock and heavy metal. If it hadn't been for her, I may have never heard of Dokken and I certainly wouldn't have made all the friends I did at the bar. She said I must have a radar in finding her as I almost seem to every year - real "Radar Love"!!
さらに良いことに特別の友達と会った。彼女のおかげで僕の日本生活が変わった。彼女こそが僕を渋谷に会ったロックバー”ドッケン”に誘ってくれた人。当時私たちはタワーレコードで働いて、僕がハードロック・ヘビメタが好きの知って、その店を教えてくれた。彼女がいなければ、ドッケンも知らず、その店で出会った人々も会えす、多分いつかアメリカに帰った可能性もあったな。一緒にライブに行く約束はしてないのに、なぜか毎年、発見する。彼女が冗談で、”私のレーダーを持ってるの？” いや、これが”レーダー・ラブ”か？

My wife is quite the worrier so after the band played "Big City Nights", I headed out the door as it would take me over an hour to get home and it was nearing 10pm and I would be coming here again tomorrow morning for another all day headbanging binge. So, when I heard the did three more songs for their encore and having Uli Jon Roth joining them on stage for one, I was kicking myself in the head. Dammit, I knew I should have stayed just a little longer. Heck, now I know better. Gotta go home and get some rest so I could do it all again tomorrow.
自分の妻が凄い心配性なので、”ビッグ・シティ・ナイツ”のあと、僕は会場の出口に向かった。さいたまスーパーアリーナから自分の家まで一時間くらいかかるし、もう１０時過ぎてた。また明日も朝から晩までヘッドバンギングするので、会場を去った。あとから聞いたけど、彼らがアンコールでまた３曲を演奏してた。それに初期のバンドメンバーのウリ・ジョン・ロートも一曲ステージに立った。あ～それが見たかったな。ちょっと後悔した。やっぱりもうちょっと会場に居るべきだった。ま、過ぎたことは仕方ない。さて帰って、寝て、また明日同じ騒ぎをする。
