Day Trip to Mitakesan in Okutama (Part 1) / 奥多摩、御岳山日帰り旅行 （パート１）

Instead of going back in time, today's post will feature our day trip to Okutama that we went to on Monday which was a National Holiday.  We left our apartment a little before 8am and headed to Chofu where we would be meeting our friends Yukio and Reiko.  And then we would head out to Mitakesan in Okutama.

タイムスリップのネタではなく今回はこの前の月曜日の日帰り旅行の話です。月曜日は日本の祝祭日だったため友達と奥多摩に行く約束をしてた。調布市で友達と会うので、朝８時うちは家を出発した。目指すのは御岳山。

Our day trip starts off with riding the Setagaya Line to Shimotakaido.

日帰り旅行の始まりだ。最初は世田谷線に乗って、若林駅から終点の下高井戸へ。

From Shimotakaido, we transferred to the Keio Line and went to Chofu.

 

下高井戸から京王線に乗り換えって調布市へ。

 

 



Our friends picked us up and we went to Mitakesan by car.  This may be way out in the boonies but is still considered a part of Tokyo.

友達と会って、いざ奥多摩にある御岳山へ。言ってきますが、超田舎なのに東京都です。

The cable car railway which will take to the to of Mitakesan.

ケーブルカーで御岳山の山頂を目指す。

We will be riding the cable car soon.

 

すぐケーブルに乗ります。

 

 



But first, the women took a nature break.  Cute little public restroom.

乗る前にお手洗い休憩。可愛い公衆トイレですね。

These looked pretty appetizing.  Salted fish and manju.

美味しそう。塩焼きの鮎と焼きまんじゅ。

Looks like we had a hitchhiker on the cable car.

 

あっ、別の乗客も居た。

 

 

What's the first we do when we get to the top?  Why, have a beer of course!

 

上に来て最初にやることはなんでしょう？ビールを飲むむことです。

 

 

But our wives decided on having shaved ice instead.

 

私たちの妻たちはかき氷を食べましたけどね。

And then we took a lift to the top of the mountain.

 

そしてリフトに乗って山頂へ。

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Still much to see on top of this mountain.  The journey shall continue...
