Off to Snow Country (Part 1) /

New Year's Eve, we caught a train from Tokyo to Aomori to spend the New Year's holiday in Mikako's home town. It's a four hour train ride. My brother-in-law was going to meet us at the station and we would be at Mikakos' mother's house around 10:00pm. Mikako's mother had a nice spread waiting for us when we got there. Two steaming pots of sukiyaki, a plate full of tempura, a plate of sashimi, and some hairy crabs (Mikako's request).

So I was peering and muttering which plate has the hairy crabs, and there they were--and then there they weren't--good work Mrs Hoyt!

She loves them crabs. Whenever we make it back to Seattle, we go to the Crab Pot at least once!
