Our silver week mini vacation in 2015. We traveled with our friends Yukio and Reiko and checked out four major shrines in Ibaraki Prefecture our first day. We had reservations at the Tsukubasan Keisei Hotel located at the foot of Mount Tsukuba.
２０１５年シルバーウィークの小旅行で友達の幸男と玲子で茨城県と栃木県の神社巡りを実行した。初日は茨城県にある四つのメジャー神社にお参りした。今夜の宿は筑波山の麓にある筑波山京成ホテル。

There's a zebra riding a toad on the roof of this building. Now that's a bit surreal.

The meal looks wonderful. We started off with an aperitif of plum wine. The small bowls include dried persimmons, crab sashimi, cucumbers and suizenji seaweed. There's also an assortment of sashimi.
食べ物が全部美味しそうだ。最初は食前酒の梅酒から。小鉢にあるのは柿なます、蟹身、胡瓜と水前寺海苔。造りは盛り合わせにて。
Grilled dish was Pacific ocean perch. Served with yam bulblets, pine nuts, and edible chrysanthemums.
焼き物は赤魚利休焼き・松の身・むかご・数取り菊花。
The hotpot dish included chicken, tofu, and vegetables.
鍋物はつくば鶏・豆腐・鍋野菜。

おう、今夜のおしながき。
The aperitif of plum wine.
食前酒の梅酒。
For the boiled dish, we were served herring with green Japanese peppercorn, autumn eggplant, and Japanese mustard spinach in a bowl and topped with citron.
煮物は鰊粒山椒・秋茄子・小松菜・どんぶり・柚子。
The menu included a small dish of boiled rice with mushrooms.
凌ぎはきの子御飯（筑波山麓コシヒカリ）。
Also included on the menu was Iimura beef shabu-shabu with tofu and vegetables.
台の物は飯村牛しゃぶしゃぶ・焼豆腐・切り野菜。
And for a dish in place of the traditional vinegared item was salmon and squid carpaccio with tomatoes and vegetables.
酢の物代りは火取りサーモンと烏賊カルパッチョ・トマト・切り野菜。
Gotta have your miso soup too.
味噌汁は吹かせない食べ物ですね。
And finally for dessert, pear and cake.
デザートは関成なし・ケーキ。
We took the ropeway to the top of Mount Tsukuba to check out the night view.

After returning to the hotel, it was bath time once again, followed by a nice cold glass of beer.
ホテルに戻って、またお風呂に入って、お風呂上がりはやはり冷たいビールですね。

We ended the evening with a bottle of Hiyaoroshi Nihon-shu.
寝る前の晩酌は日本酒のひやおろし。
Tomorrow, we will be heading for Toshogu Shrine in Nikko and then to Furumine Shrine which is also known as the Tengu Shrine.
明日、栃木県神社巡り。最初に目指すのは日光にある東照宮と鹿沼にある古峰神社、通称天狗神社。
And so the journey continues...
そして旅がつづく。。。
