Last week, when I went to check out this place, I discovered that they don't do lunch on the weekends. Today, being a Friday, and amazingly, Mikako having the day off, we decided to go here for lunch. Mikako had seen this restaurant featured on a news piece and as we are lovers of spicy foods, we had to go check it out for ourselves. The name of the restaurant is called "BOOLDaK" and is located in Shibuya. "Bool" apparently means flame-broiled while "dak" is chicken. Yes, the name of the restaurant is also the name of one of their menu items. I tried the "bool-dak" set, which includes salad, miso soup, and all-you-can eat rice. Mikako decided to try the "bool-deji" which is pork. We also opted for the spicy version.

The sign says the pride of their restaurant is their Korean styled flame-broiling which makes their chicken and pork very tender, along with their secret sauce to top off their signature dishes.

The main dish seems to be a little lacking in the portions department, but if you consider the all-you-can-eat rice, along with the salad and miso soup, it's sure to make you full enough. Mikako and I being lovers of spicy food, didn't find the dish to be as spicy as the signs claimed. Maybe we're just too used to eating more spicy foods than the average. The Sechuan place I went to a couple of weeks was much spicier than here. But I tell you, you can get hooked on eating just the booldak and booldeji alone. They would make great snacks with beer!
