Konpira Chaya /

On our recent day off, we spent the day walking. Our main goal was to check out this udon shop in Meguro called "Konpira Chaya". It's a teuchi udon shop which means they make their own udon by hand. (I think I may have to revise the label so it says "ramen, udon, & soba shops" but I will do that another time). Anyway, we left our apartment around 10:30am and walked for two hours until we reached our goal. As it was lunch time, there was a long line in front of the shop as well. This particular udon shop has been featured on many television shows and quite a few magazines as well. Their most popular product is the beef curry udon. Mikako ordered the regular style while I opted for the beef curry with cheese udon.

As you can see from the pictures above, the curry broth is nice and thick. In fact, its nice and thick until the last drop. The cheese curry udon is also topped with some corn and green onions and a thin slice of fishcake.

Bon Appetit!
