Loud Park 16 (Day 2 Part 2) /

I was just as busy on the second day as I was on the first by walking back and forth between three stages. Two bands were once again playing at the same time. Lacuna Coil on the Ultimate Stage and Terrorizer on the Extreme Stage. As I'm not so particular to extreme music, I went to check out Lacuna Coil's set.

I was excited to see the next band to be playing on the Big Rock Stage. The latest incarnation of Riot! Heck, I first saw Riot when I was still in high school back in 1980. Tonight, they would be playing their album "Fire Down Under" in its entirety.

Once again, two bands playing the same time slot. Do I want to check out Nikki Sixx's Sixx:A.M. or Lee Dorrian's new project With the Dead.

WITH THE DEAD

Since I was a fan of Cathedral with their Sabbath sound, I thought I would check out Lee Dorrian's new outfit - With the Dead.

As Lee Dorrian mostly stood in the same place without any movement and the songs starting to sound the same, I was getting bored so I left half way through the set and decided to catch the last part of Sixx:A.M.'s set.

ULI JON ROTH

Next up, former Scorpions guitarist Uli Jon Roth. Scorpion fans went out of their minds as Uli's set consisted of early Scorpions songs. This year's Loud Park, it was as if you got to see two different Scorpions set. I was getting tired so I decided to watch the set from the stands.

Set List:

1.All Night Long (Scorpions)

2.Catch Your Train (Scorpions)
3.The Sails of Charon (Scorpions)
4.Sun in My Hand (Scorpions)
5.We'll Burn the Sky (Scorpions)
6.In Trance (Scorpions)
7.Rainbow Dream Prelude
8.Fly to the Rainbow (Scorpions)
9.Dark Lady (Scorpions)

There are still 7 bands on the bill before headliners Whitesnake takes the stage. I decided to watch one more band before looking for some dinner and walking around to get some fresh air. To be continued...

Loud Park 16 (Day 2 Part 1) /

Day 2 of Loud Park 16. I'm back once again. I left home around 8am so I could be in the Saitama Super Arena before 10am to catch the first few groups set close to the stage.

First up was a band that consisted of only two regular members - a guitarist and the vocalist. The name of the band is Fury of Fear. Japanese power metal with a sound reminiscent of the '80s. There is no set list for this artist.

And it looks like this year Loud Park got some sexy pinup idol to introduce bands on the Ultimate and Big Rock Stages.

SAVAGE MESSIAH

Set List:

1.Cross of Babylon

2.Hellblazer
3.The Fateful Dark
4.(New Song)
5.Scavengers of Mercy
6.Minority of One

Today, the third stage would be called the Extreme Stage with mostly death metal bands playing. I went to check out the first act that would be featured on the Extreme Stage because I knew one of my friends was going to check them out and I thought I would look for her.

NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST

Unfortunately I couldn't find my friend in this crowd.

Set List:

1.Pleasure of Torture

2.Punch Me if You Can
3.Exceed
4.Malice Against
5.Venom
6.A Day to Remember

Another Japanese artist, Kuni, was playing the same time slot as Nocturnal Bloodlust on the Ultimate Stage. As I had seen him perform before, I missed his set. It would have been interesting to see was his backing band this time around. Last time I saw him, Mark Slaughter of Slaughter and Frank Banali of Quiet Riot was part of his band.

KUNI

Well damn, it looks like Jeff Scott Soto was singing. He's my second favorite vocalist after Uriah Heep's David Byron. Tony Cardenas on bass, who used to play for Great White and Darren James Smith on drums (Harem Scarem and Red Dragon Cartel). Sorry, no set list for Kuni's performance.

Then it was time to head to the Big Rock Stage for The Dead Daisies. Another super band featuring the likes of John Corabi, Doug Aldrich, and Marco Mendoza to name a few.

2.Make Some Noise

5.Join Together (The Who cover)
6.The Last Time I Saw the Sun
7.Mainline

Loud Park 16 coverage continues...
