Tokyo Flashbacks : Taishido Summer Festival 2013 / 東京フラッシュバック : 太子堂夏祭り ２０１３年

One of the things I loved about living in Tokyo were the summer festivals at neighborhood shrines. Although I spent over twenty years living in the Metropolis, I could never get used to the weather in the hot and humid summers. But these festivals more than made up for the discomfort.

東京生活の一つの楽しみはやっぱり近所のお寺や神社の夏祭り。２０年以上東京に住みましたが、夏の天気が全然慣れなくて辛かった。東京の暑さと湿気がきつい。でもこういったイベントがあるから、なんとか我慢が出来る。

Walking back home from Sangejaya, through Taishido so I could check out the Taishido Summer Festival.

三軒茶屋から若林に歩く途中、太子堂を通ります。今週末太子堂の夏祭りが開催してました。

A very popular booth at any summer festival is the goldfish scooping booth.

夏祭りで人気のブースはやっぱり金魚すくい。

One of Tokyo's fine burger shops is [Baker Bounce] which I used to frequent as it was a short ten minute walk from our apartment.

太子堂にグルメバーガー屋の「ベーカー・バウンス」があります。自分も良くこの店に食べに来た。自分のアパートから徒歩で１０分くらい。

Of course, the best things about summer festivals is the food!!

夏祭りの一番の楽しみはやっぱり食べ物ですよ！！

And we mustn't forget a visit to the shrine.

神社にお参りすることも忘れずに。

Unfortunately, my wife was making dinner so I couldn't snack along the way. We will probably come again tomorrow and eat a few things.

残念ながら、今夜妻は家で夕飯はもう作ってくれたので、食べ歩きを辞めました。多分明日妻と一緒に来て、なんか食べるでしょう。

Tokyo Flashbacks : Kyushu Fair 2013 / 東京フラッシュバック : 九州観光・物産フェア ２０１３

My parents and my sister and her husband have returned to the United States. Unfortunately for them, they will be missing out on this weekend's event at Yoyogi Park. Me and my friends will be going there to enjoy the Kyushu Fair. it's being held for three days. From Oct. 12th through the 14th, Monday being a national holiday.

家族と妹夫妻がアメリカに帰りました。残念ながら、今週末代々木公園で開催されるイベントは彼らはもう日本にはいません。僕と僕の友達は今週末代々木公園で開かれる九州観光・物産フェアに行く予定。開催期間は１０月１２日から１４日まで。月曜日がなんと日本の祝祭日。

You must remember this is Tokyo. This is not crowded.

東京にいるのを忘れずに。東京なら、この程度は混んでると言わない。

いろんなゆるキャラがいたので、誰だかどこのマスコットも全部覚えてない。

My friend's cousin's girlfriend. I can't remember if they had gotten married yet or not.

友達の従兄弟の彼女。このときはもう結婚してたかも知りません。

21 and his cousin (21 is the nickname of my friend sitting on the right).

２１番と２１番の従兄弟。（２１番は右側に座ってる友達のあだ名）。

はい、ビールのおかわり。

You think we would be full after an entire day of eating. But, as the sun set and it got dark, we moved to an indoor restaurant nearby and continued to eat and drink.

朝からずーと飲んで、食べて、満腹になってると思うでしょう。でもその後近くのレストランに移動して、さらに飲んで食べました。

And so ended a full day of drinking and eating. Until the next festival!!

そして本日食べ飲み冒険が終了しました。また次の料理祭りまで！！
