Tokyo Flashbacks : Family Visit 2013 (Part 5) / 東京フラッシュバック：家族inジャパン ２０１３年 （パート ５）

My parents were kind enough to let us invite some friends to share in the champagne brunch at the New Sanno Hotel for a second time. As I had previously taken a lot of pictures of the food, this time around, we just focused on eating. I did take a couple of group shots afterward.

僕の両親がまた私たちの友達を誘って良いと言われ、何人も広尾にあるニュー山王ホテルのシャンパンブランチを堪能した。以前は料理の写真に撮ったため、今回は食べるのをメインにして、食べ終わってからのグループフォトの撮影をしました。

I told my parents we would be taking my sister and her husband out for dinner again tonight. They were lucky enough to be in town for the annual Hokkaido Festival which is held at Yoyogi Park.

両親に今夜は妹と妹の旦那を夕飯に連れてあげるから、お父さんとゆっくりしてと言った。妹夫妻が運良く、今週末は代々木公園で北海道フェアが開催中。

This festival is much bigger than the Sri Lanka Festival and is one of the most popular ones held at the park.

このフェスはスリランカフェスより人気があり、結構混みます。

A specialty meat menu from Hokkaido is their "Genghis Khan" which is made with lamb.

北海道の肉料理と言えばジンギスカンですよ。

And as we are at the Hokkaido Festival, it only seems appropriate to drink Hokkaido beer such as the Sapporo Classic.

北海道フェスに来てるからやっぱりビールは北海道生まれの札幌ビールでしょう。

I told you we'd be eating those.

言ったとうり、これを食べるって。

As this is a Hokkaido Fair, we also had to eat some miso ramen.

北海道フェアなのでもちろん味噌ラーメンも食べないっと。

A bunch of our friends joined us as well.

私たちの友達も何人が来てくれた。

My friends Yukio and Tetsu used a bit of their English to talk to brother-in-law, Tyrone.

友達の幸男とてっちゃんが義理の弟のタイローンと一生懸命英語で話してくれた。

One of my new co-workers at my new job also joined us.

新しい職場の新しい同僚も来てくれました。

This is one of my former co-workers from my Tower days.

この子はタワー時代からの元同僚。

My sister couldn't resist buying an ice cream cone from this shop.

妹がどうしてもこの店のアイスが食べたかった。

But afterward, we went to another sit down place for dessert.

このあともまた別の店に入って、デザートを食べました。

Tomorrow, my parents will be joining us for a little family adventure. A little something for everyone to enjoy. But that will be the next post.

明日、家族で出かける予定。みんなが楽しめる場所へ。それがまた次のネタの楽しみです。

Tokyo Flashbacks : Family Visit 2013 (Part 4) / 東京フラッシュバック：家族inジャパン ２０１３年 （パート ４）

While my family was staying at the New Sanno Hotel in Hiroo, it gave me and my wife the opportunity to eat a lot of American food. Today, we started it off with a hearty breakfast.

家族が広尾のニュー山王ホテルに泊まってる間、僕と妻が何度もアメリカン料理を食べに行った。今日の始まりは大きなアメリカブレックファスト。

An omelette with bacon, sausages and hash browns and other potatoes.

オムレツとベーコン、ソーセージ、ポテトとハッシュブラウン。

Another helping of S.O.S. again.

またS.O.S.という料理を食べた。

これは確かグリツという食べ物だ。

While we left my parents at the hotel, my wife and I, along with my sister and her husband, went to Minato Mirai in Yokohama. Our main goal was to check out the Cup Noodle Museum.

両親をホテルに残し、僕と妻、妹と妹の旦那４人で横浜のみなとみらいに行きました。本日の目的地はカップ・ヌードル・ミュージアム。

Of course we checked out the history of the cup noodles, saw a bunch of different types of instant ramen but the main thing to do here is to create your own original cup noodles with a cup of your own design.

もちろんカップヌードルの歴史やほかのカップ麺、インスタントラーメンの種類も見ましたけど、このミュージアムの一番楽しみは自分のオリジナルカップヌードルが作れること。自分がデザインしたカップも出来る。

We will be making our own cup noodles soon.

私たちは自分のオリジナルカップヌードル作ることを挑戦しました。

You can choose the type of soup and a choice of three toppings for your original cup noodles.

ソープは３種類から選んで、そして入れる具を３種類を選ぶ。

You can to experience part of the process as well.

麺作りのプロセスも体験出来る。

Well, you actually design your cup first. Then make the noodles.

あっ、カップデザインが先。そのあとに自分オリジナルカップ麺を作る。

Your cup noodles is shrink wrapped and ready to take home. We were told that we should eat them within three months.

出来あったら、そのまま持ち帰って良い。三ヶ月以内に食べるべきと言われた。

But what is even better than making your own original cup noodles? Trying different types of pasta and noodles. On the fourth floor of the museum, you will find the [Noodles Bazaar]. It features about nine different types of noodles from around the world. Pasta from Italy, pho from Vietnam, reimen from Korea, lagman from Kazakhstan, ranshu beef ramen from China, tom yam noodles from Thailand, laksa from Malaysia, and mi goreng from Indonesia plus others.

オリジナルカップヌードルを作るのも楽しいけど、やっぱり食べるのもっと楽しい。このミュージアムの４階にあるレストラン「Noodles Bazaar - ワールド麺ロード」が最高。世界中の麺料理が食べられる。イタリアのパスタ、ベトナムのフォー、韓国の冷麺、カザフスタンのラグマン、中国の蘭州牛肉拉麺、タイのトム・ヤム・ヌードル、マレーシアのラクサ、インドネシアのミーゴレン等。

You can buy small bowls of each type for about 300 yen.

There is also a deck on the fourth floor where you could look out into Tokyo Bay.

４階にデッキもあり、東京湾が眺める。

We walked from the Cup Noodle Museum to the Red Brick Warehouses, also located in Yokohama.

カップヌードルミュージアムから横浜赤レンガ倉庫まで歩いた。

I had to buy a Yokohama craft beer.

赤れんが倉庫で横浜の地ビールを買いました。

It's called the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse Beer.

In the evening, instead of eating at the hotel, we decided to take my sister and her husband to one of our favorite chain restaurants in Tokyo. It is called [Sekai no Yama-chan]. They serve the best spicy chicken wings!

夕飯はホテルではなく、僕と妻が僕の妹と妹の旦那に私たちの好きなチェインレストランに連れてあげた。それが「世界の山ちゃん」。この店の手羽先が絶品。

Planning on more adventures with my sister and her husband tomorrow. We are going to take them to Yoyogi Park for the Kyushu Fair.

明日の予定はまた両親なしで代々木公園で開催してる九州フェスに行く。もちろん妹と妹の旦那と。
