Golden Week Adventures 2015 Day 1 / ゴルデンウィーク・アドベンチャー ２０１５年 初日

My wife and I went to her hometown of Aomori for Golden Week this year.  It has been four years since our last visit.  I had taken Friday off but had to wait until the afternoon for my wife to get off work.  We were taking the Shinkansen from Tokyo station and would leave around 4:30pm.  We only bought a one-way ticket as we will be driving back with a couple of friends from Aomori to Tokyo.  Apparently a nine-hour drive.  As the only one without a license, I will just be a passenger!

今年のゴルデンウィーク妻の故郷青森県、青森市に行くことに決定。青森行きは４年ぶりとなります。自分は金曜日を休みを取って、妻が仕事を終わるのを待って、夕方から出発。東京駅から初のはやぶさの新幹線に乗ります！今回は新青森駅片道を買って、帰りはなんと車の旅になる。ま、自分は免許持ってないので、妻と二人と友達が運転する。９時間の車旅らしい。ちょっと寄り道もするかも知らないので、どの位の時間にかかるか？

さて、この旅でディーセルのスニーカーを履かないっと。

As always, have to have my pre-departure beer.  Nothing special this time around except it was nice and cold.

もちろん旅たち前のビールを飲まないっと。 普通のビールですが、冷たくって美味しい。

ホームにある駅弁屋。義理の母が夕飯を用意してくると言ったから今回は駅弁を買ってませんでした。

The Akita Komachi Shinkansen will travel the same way to Morioka before it splits off and heads to Akita.

秋田こまち新幹線と繋がってる。盛岡でこまちは秋田行き。

And finally to the old homestead.  This is my wife's old room.  It's also the room I stayed at when I first came to visit.

And so ended our first day of our Golden Week adventure.  Tomorrow is going to be a busy day as we are going to check out where my mother-in-law works and then we will meet up with friends around 10:30am and head to Hirosaki to check out the cherry blossoms (if they're still in bloom).

 

そして初日のゴルデンウィークアドベンチャーの巻が閉じた。明日は忙しいの一日になりそう。予定は義理の母の職場に行って、そのあと、友達と合流して弘前へ。今年の桜満開がもう一週間前に散ったとニュースで聞きましたが、他の桜がまだ咲いてるかも知りません。
