Today's featured neighborhood walk was around an area called Minami Nagasaki. It's a few stations away from Ikebukuro. Why this neighborhood? So glad you asked. If you're a big fan of manga, then you would already know the answer. This is where the legendary manga artist rooming house, Tokiwa-So, was located. Created by the Father of Manga, Osamu Tezuka. This small apartment housed aspiring artists such as Fujiko F. F, creator of Doraemon; Fujio Akatsuka, creator of Crayon Shin-chan; and Kotaro Ishinomori, creator of Cyborg 009 and also one of the creators of Kamen Rider just to name a few.
なぜ豊島区池袋の近くの南長崎まで散歩しようとしたかって分かりますか？これは漫画ファンならだれでも知ってる。漫画の聖地と言われてる場所です！ ここあの伝説になった漫画家たちのアパート、トキワ荘、があった場所。 漫画の神様手塚治が最初に居住者になった。その後不二子・F.不二夫、ドラえもんの著者；赤塚不二夫、クレヨンしんちゃんの著者；石ノ森幸太郎、Cyborg００９のと仮面ライダーシリーズの関わった人などがここに住み込んでた。
トキワ荘通り
Located in a small park along Tokiwaso Street is a small monument commemorating the Tokiwaso apartment and the manga artists who lived there.
トキワ荘通りにある小さな公園でトキワ荘とその居住者の記念碑がある。
Tokiwaso was an old wooden apartment where aspiring manga artists lived, it was used as a work space from 1952 through 1982.
