I suppose you're all wondering why I'm introducing a book outside of my monthly Page Turners. And its a book that's not yet published - but will be soon. For one, I consider the author a friend and the mother of one of my dear friends who I introduced in a previous post, one Matthew Brown. I am introducing Janet Brown. She was also for a very short time, a co-worker until she moved on to better pastures (we didn't work at the same store but it was the same company) and the best thing about Janet, aside from spawning one of the most interesting characters I've had the pleasure to call my friend, is getting me and my friend Hide quite drunk in Bangkok!! Nothing like partying with your friend's Mom. She may not remember, but I had to make one visit to the men's room for a serious puking binge, (sorry if you're having lunch or dinner) and came back to the table to find that she had ordered us more beers!! And yes, I drank those too.
You may have noticed a couple of blog links as well titled "Asia by the Book" and "Tone Deaf in Thailand". If you're interested in books of and about Asia, check it out and say hi to Janet!!
Yep, the author of the book is the mother of that guy wearing glasses. That's me in the middle with my older brother on the left. So, all you readers and literary types, go buy this book when it comes out!!

Hope you received my heartfelt thanks message yesterday, because I am deeply grateful for this post!
I really am looking forward to reading it. Before I started blogging, I wrote essays of my various trips to various lands, including Thailand and Laos (I have them filed away in a notebook somewhere). One of these days, I may put them all together.
When you put them all together, if you need an editor, let me know. And let ThingsAsian Press know as well.
Ooh, you are too kind. Having a book published is one of my secret dreams! Now, you've given me incentive and motivation. I'll have to dig through my notebooks. I have another friend who had his book pubished a few years back titled "Schizophrenic in Japan" by Mike (in Tokyo) Rogers. Another entertaining read. I may have post my old Page Turner essays too (and call it Ern's Retro Page Turners or something).
Happy Reading!
