Tokyo Flashback : Beef Stew Specialty Restaurant [Kyoraian] / 東京フラッシュバック：ビーフシチュー専門店「去来庵（きょうらいあん）」

 

As we were walking back to Kita Kamakura station, we were trying to decide where we should have lunch. We passed by this place the first time. A beef stew specialty shop. The lunch set was a bit pricey but seeing the long line and reading about it before we went to Kita Kamakura, we decided to splurge a little and joined the line. The name of the place is [Kyoraian].

明月院を去ったあと、北鎌倉駅に戻りながら、どこでランチに食べるのかを迷ってた。丁度その時、気になる店を通った。メニューを見て、ちょっと高いなと思いながら、一回は断念したが、以前もこの店のことを知ってたので、戻って、列に並びました。店の名前は「去来庵」。ビールの専門店です。

The menu for the beef stew set. You can see the price is ￥3218 (with tax). You can choose to have your beef stew with rice or butter toast. The set includes a mini salad and a drink. For the drink, you can choose coffee or tea. 

This is the dessert menu. Homemade rare cheesecake (with coffee, wine, or tea). And yes, we ordered the rare cheesecake as well.

The restaurant's homemade rare cheesecake. To be honest, the beef stew was great. The cheesecake...well, I've had better in other establishments. 

店の自家製レアチーズケーキ。正直と言えば、ビーフシチューはとっても美味しかった。レアチーズケーキは。。。別の店でもっと美味しいものはあるな。

Tokyo Flashback : Day trip to Kita Kamakura (Part 1) / 東京フラッシュバック ：北鎌倉日帰り旅行 （パート１）

Traveling back in time to 2015 when my wife and I still lived in Tokyo. It was the second week of June and we decided to do a day trip to Kita Kamakura. Our main objective was to see the hydrangeas in bloom at Meigetsu-in, also known as "The Temple of Flowers". 

ちょっと２０１５年にタイムスリップして、僕と妻がまだ東京の住んでたころ。ある週末に北鎌倉行くことにした。目的地はあるお寺、明月院。このお寺で有名になってるのはアジサイ。「花の寺」でも言わてる。

We're not even at the temple and we've already seen many hydrangeas in bloom. 

まだお寺に着いてないのに、アジサイがいっぱい咲いてる。

Here we are at the entrance to Meigetsu-in. 

明月院の入り口に到着。

We left our apartment very early and got to Kita Kamakura around 7:00 or 8:00am and there was already a long line of people at the entrance to the temple. 

アパートを早く出て、明月院に朝７時か８時くらいに到着したら、もうこういう行列が出来たんです。

Everybody is here to see the large number of hydrangeas. 

みんなの目当てがアジサイです。

It looks like we should have left our apartment even earlier. 

もっと早くアパートを出るべきだったみたい。

Very crowded. 

超混んでた。

It's very difficult to tell, but in front of the rock in the middle, there is a crab! I don't know if it's real or not though.

The temple was even more crowded by the time we were leaving which was about 11:00am. 

私たちがお寺から離れる時はまだ朝の１１時くらい、入り口が更にに混み合った。

After leaving Meigetsu-in, we were trying to decide where we should go for lunch. We found a really nice restaurant where a long line was already made but we decided to wait in line as well, but that will be for another post. 

明月院を去ったあと、どこでランチを食べるのかを迷ってた。なんかある店にもう行列ができてたんで、お洒落な店で美味しそうも思ったから、私たちも列に並びました。でも、それはまた今度はなしますね。
